Changing My Ways to Tell the Story from the Data Points

Changing My Ways to Tell the Story from the Data Points

Change can be terrifying. It can be tougher even, when the changes are gradual as they take its due course to realize. It helps if the changes are influenced externally. It helps in not spiraling into inaction caused by overthinking.

The COVID pandemic was such an influential event. It inadvertently reshaped the world and the individuals alike. The effect of that reshape can be felt strongly across the world now with series of factors impacting the world economy and peace.

The kind of change I am talking about has very little to do with world economy and peace and more to do with personal belief and principles. Look, it was impossible to go unaffected with everything that is happening around me, so I decided to look more inward than outward. What is it that makes me, me? What are my beliefs and principles I would like to live by in case the time comes to take sides?

The answer was obvious yet the necessary changes were not so much.

The very thing that is smart might be dumbing me down

It is 2025, if you haven’t yet figured out your relationship with the technology that you use then probably the time is not right for you to read this essay.

I tentatively revisited my relationship with the tech that I use, since the fact that I had so much time to think about it. The simple step was to be more intentional with the use of software and hardware that I use and for specific purposes.

Out goes the smart watch and social media apps. The digital in my life was replaced mostly by analog. The books that I was reading smelt like books and my phone was blinking only for messages from my friends and family. The camera replaced my incessant need to click selfies and portraits. Finally, the music in my collection was my music again.

None of it is revolutionary yet it felt really fulfilling, for so long.

The human mind is stoic yet easily distracted

As soon as the world began to go back to normal, I went back to my old habits.

The subscriptions were convenient, the latest hardware seemed enticing and I wanted to be part of all the conversations as it happened. Oh! the scrolling and commenting.

All that intentional principled work undone. So it may seem.

Remember, it takes a disciplined, consistent and persistent effort to stick by your plans. It is exactly the way I decided to go ahead, albeit with a larger goal in mind.

Nothing motivates a man like the drive to make a mark

The most prominent way to make a mark in this world is to build something of your own that is a reflection of you.

I thought to myself, Do I have in me to build a lasting product? well, the answer wasn’t exactly no, but then it wasn’t resounding Yes either. Way to go to make a mark of my own, right?

I decided to start at a place of known rather than unknown. It immediately paved a way for me to pitch for something that would allow me to explore & learn. It allowed me to apply my learnings while gaining new experiences on the way. It helped that my expertise was close to the most popular buzzword of the year.

AI is the future, Data is the present

While everyone wanted to work with the latest, fastest and most smartest of AI models of the world, I wanted to work with the data that made the AI happen.

Etherion Consulting LLP, envisioning a future where every business decision is powered by clear, actionable insights. Our mission is to empower organizations through data storytelling, transforming complex information into strategic narratives that drive growth and innovation.

Does it sound cliched?

It may as well be but it all comes down to the belief and principle behind the initiative. These beliefs and principles stem from the individual goals and objectives which need to be ingrained into the company and its body of work.

Information not data, humans not products

The glaring question put to me, to us when we started Etherion was about the very nature of the company we are trying to build.

What is it about? People? AI? Data? Products? Why are we starting this consulting firm in the sea of consulting firms?

The questions kept on piling and only way to answer them all was to be honest with the audience and more importantly to myself. In all honesty, the only answer that mattered was about people.

In the era where everything and everyone is the product, I want to look beyond the sea of products and dig deeper into the data to gain insights on the effect these products are having on us, the people.

As it became clearer to me, everything around me became a data point itching to tell me a story and all I want to do is discover, transform and visualize the story for everyone to read.

My aim is to humanize the story of people who have become a mere data point.

There are subtle changes that I had to go through to morph into the role of an data entrepreneur. I will like to talk about them in my upcoming posts. Meanwhile, here is the look into my newest venture that is keeping my head above the water.

Please have a look and reach out with your feedback.

I also have a community that aims to engage with like minded people and willing to work with same mission as that of Etherion Consulting. Please have a look here –

Let’s talk more in my next post. Ciao!!
