A Day in My Life in Munich
and how I am reshaping it filled with habits of my interests
The routines of a being define them.
We are creatures of habit. No matter the degree of intellect, we are bound by routines. Our habits dictate mental and physical health and the routine that we build. This knowledge does not really keep us away from slumber.

The mind is a powerful tool and the more we learn about it the more enlightening our life becomes.
I have dabbled in many routines.
The 5 am club, the late-night owls, the 9-5ers and the more popular one to go with the flow. Each has its own perks and each comes with its own downfalls. The lesson from each of these experiments has been a simple one -

It is easier said than done.
My Interests shaped my routines
I am a creature of many varying interests. My routines are a blend of my interests and my mood.
I became an early riser when I moved to Chicago for work. The actual work had nothing to do with my habit of 5 am wake-ups. A simple change of schedule caused by the timezone was the catalyst for this change.
The European soccer leagues’ kick-off times are odd for North America. To support my beloved yet ragged and struggling Manchester United, I began waking up at 5 am to be ready for the kick-off.
Here, I wrote a small essay on the state of the club and what we can learn from it -

Conversely, back home in India, I was a night owl.
The work times allowed me the luxury to start my day later than usual. To add to that my interest in football, watching and playing, aligned well with my late schedule.
Looking back on it, maybe the driving factor for my routine should be more goal-oriented rather than hobbies and interests.
The ideal scenario will be to build hobbies and interests that align well with your goals.
The driving factor for all our decisions - Data
I have been reflecting on the different domains I have worked as a QA Engineer.
Quality Assurance is neither my hobby nor interest yet here it is my main profession. But that is a can of worms to be opened at another time.
I have worked on both sides of the testing curve. Testing the applications and Testing Data. I don’t have a preference over either but if I am honest, I enjoy siphoning data for anomalies over finding bugs in the system.
Here, I wrote about how I was lucky that QA helped me to glimpse into the world of Systems and Data -
Quality Assurance Helped Me To Connect The World Of Systems And Data
We are creating data at an enormous rate and when I look at it from the view of a Data Engineer, we are yet to make sense of a lot of data and how it is and will shape our lives in present and future.
Talking about data, social media is at the core of it and we as consumers with varied interests are the main driving factor in allowing data to reshape our world.

Reshaping and Rebuilding the habits of my interests
One major change in my routine, over a strenuous course of building this one habit, a habit of my utmost interest is - Everyday Writing.
It is not easy to build a new habit. Even if there are enough hours in a day, building a writing habit means building a sustainable corresponding habit that will help in generating ideas and build my mood to sit and write with piqued interest.
I managed to build a routine of my own, here, elaborated in a small essay -
2 Things That Help Me Get Writing Done On Days I Struggle With Ideas
Finally, the fruits of my new routine, able to experience the sombre mood of Munich, expressed in a few clicks -

Until next week, do give your routines a check and let me know if something piqued your interest or if the data highlighted something new.
