Any sport pushes the physical and mental boundaries of a person.

The idea that playing any sports aids in the physical and mental development of kids is a well-known fact. There are a number of researches and studies that support it as well.

Growing up, as a kid performing in a team or in an individual sport takes a lot of courage, pushing physical boundaries, discipline, talent and a certain level of skill development. It certainly helps in personality development.

The learnings we gather on the field, as a kid, stay with us through life and more so help us in adult life to manoeuvre through a lot of sticky situations and challenges.

The responsibilities of adult life and the emergence of making a living.

As we reach adulthood, we tend to prioritize the need for a job and/or business. Any activity that takes us away from these pursuits starts to look like a hindrance in achieving our life goals.

The consequence is a sedentary lifestyle that looks more like the beginning of the end than peak performance.

The rekindling of the affair with sports might help recenter and inject new energy.

The thought is that a body which seems to be devoid of energy might not be the best candidate for physical activity on the field. It's a popular misconception.

The teachings of sports from an early age will show here that the finish line is always at the end of the steep curve.

As soon as we begin to reach into ourselves for the courage and vigour to push ourselves and our bodies, the weaknesses of a frozen mind and body seem to thaw out.

The sense of clarity, joy of belonging to a community and the newfound mental and physical boundaries might just be the difference between old age home and breaking age-old misconceptions.

The conclusion is to dust off the old boots and cleats and look forward to the smell of fresh grass and recovery of an aching body.
