Wandering Thoughts

Thoughts Of A Wandering Mind
The day as we know moves along on its gradual pace irrespective of the nature of events that defines it. The time shows no remorse or jubilation but those who live by it’s constraints irrevocably bear the brunt. Presently as we continue to live in such uncertain times shackled within our selves with endless resources of entertainment and distractions, the sudden jolt of existential crisis tends to hit you where it matters you the most.
The days that I speak about has it’s ups and downs and those close to us keep us grounded and sane but the mind, we can neither control it nor trick it. It invariably wanders from the brightest of spots to the darkest of corners. The darkness as it may seem like a hollow bottomless tunnel suspending you into a free fall carrying all the weight of your limitless emotions. There is no one to fall upon in such state, no one to hold who can break the fall. The feeling of belonging in such state is a dilemma which makes you ponder, what exactly brought you here, while the mind, simultaneously , tries to plot its own escape from this darkest of emotional pits. Our mind is wired to yearn for the feeling to be normal, to be one with the crowd, to belong. In such moment, the only thing that holds true for the mind is the free fall, the anticipation of the climax of the fall. The future, for the mind, seems like a redundant prophecy preached by many but attained by few. The answers for the mind lie somewhere on the continuum between the present and the future. The mind carries all the weight of emotions as it traverses the mysterious path from the darkest of spots into the continuum, tends to make you feel weightless, physically. The free fall, which seemed like a state of mind, suddenly starts to feel real, making the routine feel more like a lost cause than what it really is, a mundane series of events. The sunshine that is supposed to fill us with hope and joy, suddenly starts to feel like an attack of the unknown, meaning to cause you more harm than good. The feeling of hope that every morning brings with it, suddenly takes a wild turn into a feeling of chaos, making you feel nauseous, filling in the holographic darkness with sudden bright light, making the mind rapidly lose it’s trail of thoughts, settling into wildernesses, hopelessness. The feeling of joy from morning sunshine quickly turns into agony of lost thoughts and broken dreams that resemble series of nightmares. The mind now rapidly descending towards rock bottom. The only thing you can do is find a source of inspiration, from somewhere or someone.
“You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” — Marcus Aurelius
On the surface, everyday is exactly the same. You are the same person that wakes up everyday and settles into a routine that gets you through your day. Yet when we look back, lots seems to have changed. You may notice the major events and key factors but what matters is the seemingly unimportant minute details that keep you and your mind running through it all. We all have our coping mechanisms, ranging from the popular indulgences to few unknown or rare rituals. The common ingredient in all of it is the desire of an individual to refuel, to keep going no matter the fuel. The ray of sunshine may seem like soaking the last ounce of fuel out of your mind but as with the dry patch of land soaking in the hard sun knows, the first drops of rain make up for the torture of hard toiling sun. The lingering positiveness that every mind is blessed with, makes sure that the fears and apprehension is replaced with persistence and courage and more importantly patience. You cannot control the surroundings but the mind, if we can manage to keep control of it to such an extent that it can identify its own weaknesses. The mind that can identify it’s weakness knows how to manage expectation, in turn manage itself.
The storm of uncertainty that looms over all of us during these trying times, sweeping our minds away with apprehension, can only be overcome with patience and persistence. We could all do well to remember that —
“The best way out is always through.” ― Robert Frost
We all have a part to play, in this overwhelming times and the best one you can play is “You”.
